Parking

Parking is available at a considerable discount to medical students at the Drexel University College of Medicine Campus at 2900 Queen Lane. The cost is $100/semester. Upperclass students may pay by the month. Access to the lot is by card reader. All automobiles must be registered at the Security Office. Free parking is available to East Falls students at the 28th Street Tasty Baking Company lot. The lot is served by a shuttle bus during the hours of 5:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. For information on parking availability in Center City call (215) 762-4990.

Identification Badge

Your Drexel University College of Medicine-issued ID badge should be displayed at all times.

Entering students receive an ID badge from the Security Office, which must be carried at all times. ID badges are required of actively enrolled students for access to all facilities of the University and to all of its educational resources.

Security

Doors at MCPH sites are card keyed for entry with active, valid student identification cards. For safety, on weekends and holidays, and from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. on weekdays, all of the key card entrances are deactivated except the main entrance of each building.

Escort Services
Security staff will, upon request, escort students, staff or faculty to their cars. Escorts are available to student residences after 5:30 p.m. within the immediate area of MCPH. Normally escorts will be provided within 15 minutes of requests made at the Security Desk.

Lost and Found
The Security Office acts as a clearing center for all items lost or found. Please turn in anything found to the nearest security station and inquire there when something has been lost.

Fire
Students on clinical rotations in the various hospitals are responsible to become acquainted with the fire response policies of those individual institutions. Students should inquire about the fire safety policies at each hospital in which they rotate.

Beepers/Pagers

It is a student's responsibility to learn and to follow the Pager Policy and Procedures at the various clinical training sites. Beepers are provided by individual departments, based on their determination of need during the rotations.

Emergency and Non-Emergency Health Care and Insurance

Students should use the AHERF Employee Health services while in Philadelphia.

Any emergency should be directed to an Emergency Room.

Cafeteria

The MCPH cafeteria hours are:

 

Weekdays
Breakfast - 6:30-10:30 a.m.
Lunch - 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Light Snack - 3-4:40 p.m.
Weekends
Breakfast - 8-10:30 a.m.
Lunch - 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Vending machines are available 24 hours a day.

Medical Library
The Florence A. Moore Library of Medicine located in Ann Preston Hall is available to all members of the University. (See the Libraries Homepage for more information.)

Computer Access
E-Mail Access
Access to HAL is available in the Moore Library and the adjacent Microcomputer Center.

Media Labs
The Moore Library contains slide, videotape and interactive videodisc equipment.

Microcomputer Centers
The Moore Library houses a Microcomputer Center for student use. (See the Libraries Homepage for more information.)

Computing Resources

On-Call Rooms
On-call rooms are provided for students at the hospitals where they are engaged in clinical rotations with overnight call as a requirement. Procedures for accessing the rooms vary with the site, and the student is responsible to learn the policies regarding on-call facilities at each clinical training site.

Lockers/Mailboxes
Students will have mailboxes assigned at Ann Preston Hall on the ground floor around the corner from Moore Library. Lockers are available in the same area. Each student is required to register the number of his/her selected locker with the Registrar's Office. Students must provide their own locks. Students will provided mail boxes and mail box keys by the Drexel University College of Medicine. APH keys must be returned prior to leaving the MCP Hahnemann School of Medicine.

Policies

Smoking Policy
All East Falls and Center City campus and hospital sites are smoking restricted facilities. Smoking is not permitted inside any University or hospital building by students, faculty, employees, volunteers, patients or visitors. Specific outdoor locations are designated as areas for smoking, and cigar/cigarette disposal resources are located at those sites.

Alcohol Policy
Alcoholic beverages are forbidden.

Local Public Services

Banking and Check Cashing

Cashiers Office - East Falls
The Cashiers Office is located on the 5th floor of MCPH, across from the Gift Shop. Students may pay tuition account balances as well as endorse student loan checks. Refund checks may also be picked up from the Cashier's Office.

Check Cashing Services
No checks will be cashed by the Institution under any circumstances.

Cash
A MAC machine is located in the lobby of Ann Preston Hall adjacent to MCPH.

Places of Worship

Chaplaincy Services
The Chaplain offers confidential pastoral counseling to all students regardless of religious faith. Pastoral counseling is an approach to psychotherapy that integrates a person's religious beliefs and values into therapy, if the client chooses to do so. In addition, spiritual direction is offered to support students who have questions about the direction of their careers in medicine or ethical concerns that arise between their values and the practice of medicine.
