Health Care Communication History
Involved in the Academy of Communication in Healthcare leadership, Dennis H. Novack, MD, a professor at Drexel University College of Medicine, teamed up with William Clark, MD, and Ron Saizow, MD, to create communication modules. Envisioning online modules with videos, the trio partnered with Christof Daetwyler, MD. Funded by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, the platform launched in 2005 as a pilot and debuted as a non-profit the following year. Today Health Care Communication (formerly DocCom) is one of the leading resources in teaching learners evidence-based techniques for excellent communication skills.
